Harrison County is located in the SouthWest/Central Iowa nestled among the geographically unique Loess Hills. Harrison County offers beautiful views and interesting people. The major communities in the county are Missouri Valley, Logan, Woodbine, Dunlap, Mondamin, Modale, Pisgah, Persia and Little Sioux
HARRISON
Harrison County boasts an active and vital Republican Party. A growing number of Republican activists gather on the third Thursday of each month, meeting at various locations throughout the County. The meetings usually are called to order at 7:00. p.m.
The last election cycle was a successful one for Harrison County. Republican candidates captured both open seats on the Harrison County Board of Supervisors and the office of the County Treasurer. All were hotly contested races. The County Recorder, a Republican, was also returned to office.
Republican office holders in Harrison County are:
Renee King, County Treasurer
Lorie Thompson, County Recorder
Walter Utman, County Supervisor
Bob Smith, County Supervisor
The people of Harrison County also enjoy solid Republican representation in their State Government. State Senator James Seymour represented District 28. Republican Nancy Boettger of Shelby represents the newly apportioned District 9 in which Harrison County is now included. Sen. Seymour will not be seeking re-election in the new district but Senator Boettger will. State Representative Matt Windschitl of Missouri Valley currently represents District 56 which encompasses all of Harrison County. Due to redistricting he will be representing District 17 which will include the western portion of the County while State Representative Jason Schultz of Schleswig will be representing the new District 18 which will include the eastern part of Harrison County.
Redistricting did not impact Harrison County’s Federal representation. Now part of the Fourth Congressional District, Harrison County continues to be represented in the US Congress by Steve King

Paul Wilderdyke, Woodbine, is seeking a seat on the Harrison County Board of Supervisors.
Wilderdyke, a former State Representative, stresses the importance of a rural voice in the now predominantly urban Iowa Legislature. Wilderdyke pledges to work toward advancing economic development initiatives and infrastructure projects that will support agricultural and entrepreneurial enterprises in small towns.
Wilderdyke also states his intention to fight against burdensome government regulation and control and his commitment to review the budget item by item.
Says Wilderdyke, “I will treat your tax dollar with care and respect as I would my own dollar.”
