Goldenrod School: This rural school now stands on the grounds of the Nodaway Valley Historical Museum in Clarinda. Here when Jessie Field Shambaugh (sister of Henry Field of Shenandoah Nursery fame) was the teacher she formed clubs that later grew into 4-H. Also Mattie Cavendar taught here. She was the mother of Glenn Miller, the famous band leader. The school originally stood 5 miles southeast of Essex.

Meetings are usually on Saturday mornings with dates to be announced.
During the Iowa Legislative Sessions the Page County Republican Women attend the County Legislative Coffees and provide the refreshments. In July the Page County Republican Women organize the Republican Booth for the Page County Fair. (This year July 26-28.) Plans are being made for a “Meet the Candidates” evening meal at the Elks Club in Shenandoah with the famous Emmy as the cook. The Page County Women attend the Spring and Fall meetings of Region F of the Iowa Republican Women to meet the women from the neighboring counties and listen to some good speakers. Your ideas for other meetings are welcomed.
